How We Work

Our Approach to Care

At Side by Side, Ruthann believes real healing comes from understanding your pain cycle and your peace cycle so you can move into your peace cycle when dysregulated. Her approach is clinical, compassionate, and adapted to each individual's needs and beliefs. Clients can choose to integrate faith within their therapy, but this is optional.

We draw from evidence-based modalities while remaining rooted in genuine relationship. Clients often say "Ruthann is different from my previous therapists. We collaborate on goals and then we get to work. She doesn't just ask me 'what do you want to talk about today?' — she plans sessions and we get to work on tools to achieve those goals. She doesn't rush the process, she walks with you, but success is when you tell her 'Uh, I don't think I need to come back.'" It's always a relief to learn Ruthann uses the tools herself as she encounters her own life struggles.

Not at all. While faith is part of our own story and is available as a resource, we serve people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Our priority is meeting you where you are — your comfort and healing guide the process.
Yes. We offer both in-person and secure telehealth sessions, giving you the flexibility to receive care from the comfort of your own space. All virtual sessions are conducted over HIPAA-compliant platforms.
Every situation is unique. Some people find significant relief in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term work.
Currently, Ruthann accepts Anthem, United Health Care, UMR, and Optum. Payment options are a part of the first conversation with Ruthann. We are committed to making care accessible and willing to discuss options that work for your situation.
